Job Title: Metal Polisher/Grinder
Department: Fabrication / Manufacturing
Pay: $18-20 depending experience
Schedule:6am-2:30pm
Position Summary
The Metal Polisher is responsible for grinding, polishing, deburring, and finishing steel components and fabricated metal products to meet quality and customer specifications. This role works closely with fabricators, welders, and quality inspectors to ensure finished products have smooth surfaces, clean welds, and a professional appearance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Grind, sand, buff, and polish steel and other metal surfaces to required finishes.
- Remove weld marks, burrs, scratches, scale, and imperfections from fabricated parts.
- Operate hand and power tools, including grinders, sanders, polishers, and buffing equipment.
- Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production instructions.
- Prepare metal surfaces for painting, powder coating, or final assembly.
- Maintain polishing equipment and replace abrasives as needed.
- Follow production schedules and meet daily output goals.
- Identify and report material defects or equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety standards.
- Assist fabrication and welding teams as necessary.
Required Skills
- Proficient with grinders, sanders, polishers, and hand tools.
- Understanding of metal finishing techniques and surface preparation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Comfortable working around machinery, noise, dust, and metal fabrication equipment.
Educational & Work Requirements:
- Degree: GED/High School Diploma
- Work Experience: 1yr
