Maintenance Mechanic / Material Handler

Location: Denton, TX
Pay: $28-$30 hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm with mandatory overtime as needed.

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing
production equipment to support efficient plant operations. This role also assists with material
handling activities as needed to ensure proper material flow and minimize production downtime.
The position works closely with production leadership to prioritize work and maintain a safe,
organized environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helps schedule, assign and plan projects.
  • Examine production machinery to determine the cause of operational issues using a systematic troubleshooting method.
  • Using prepared lockout / tag out procedures, dismantles devices as needed to gain access to and replace defective parts.
  • Observes and obeys all company rules and regulations including the NFPA 70E Arc Flash PPE and procedures. Works safely and without injury in adherence to all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Examines machine components to detect defects along with the root cause of the failure; adjusts operational components and control instruments, including but not limited to HMI and PLC, as needed.
  • Maintains original machine safeguarding controls such as electrical interlocks and perimeter control devices.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts; initiates purchase order through supervisor if required while maintaining the spare parts inventory.
  • When repairs are completed, monitors the restart of the repaired equipment to verify correct operations (using Lockout/tag out procedures).
  • Maintains electrical equipment as originally supplied by the vendor to meet regulatory codes at the country, state and federal levels.
  • Performs the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment including disconnects, circuit breaker cabinets, conduit & wiring up to 480 volts and 600 amps utilizing correct NEC code compliant guidelines.
  • Performs hydraulic & electrical circuit diagnostic work as required utilizing hydraulic and electrical schematics and PLC Ladder Logic.
  • Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Performs required preventative maintenance duties according to prepared procedures, utilizing the Avantis maintenance management program.
  • Operate forklifts and transport materials
  • Move, load, unload and stage materials
  • Maintain organization of warehouse and materials
  • Record material movements accurately
  • Complete forklift inspections and follow safety requirements
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance as scheduled.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma plus 2 years college and/or trade school.
  • Minimum 4 years of related job experience, with emphasis on equipment maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess Journeyman level skills with some supervisory experience and be willing to continue education in leadership training.
