The Safety Manager is in charge of making sure that employees follow health and safety regulations and supervise operations to promote the wellbeing of the team. Duties include using safety research to create policies that eliminate workplace hazards, documenting accidents in the workplace and investigating the circumstances of an injury. Ensuring all OSHA requirements are met in our plants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees.
- Monitor the removal of biological, physical or chemical hazards from the workplace.
- Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures.
- Ensure health and safety company procedures are followed and that the plant maintains compliance with all OSHA requirements.
- Advise the administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations.
- Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with OSHA and company guidelines.
- Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
- Ensure employees have the appropriate certifications to operate equipment and machinery. Safety Manager will make sure that standards are set for testing and maintenance to prevent malfunctions.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (minimum and preferred requirements): To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in environmental health and safety or a related field. Or related work experience.
- EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing. In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Project, Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Acumatica or another cloud-based ERP a plus
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and details.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Requires strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Must be able to write clearly and concisely to prepare reports, specifications and correspondence.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, tasks, assignments and plants.
- Creativity, foresight, innovation and mature judgment to identify potential problem areas and affect a solution at the earliest possible time.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus in use of computer monitor and other manual, task-related functions.
- The employee may be required to travel by car, plane, taxi, bus, and shuttle; to and from various plant locations, and to handle their own luggage and computer equipment. Ability to travel monthly to our Southwest Missouri Plant for a week at a time.
