The SQM Supervisor is responsible for managing supplier quality performance to ensure raw materials meet standards and objectives. This role oversees containment and corrective actions with suppliers, audits local suppliers, and ensures proper disposition of non-conforming materials. The SQM Supervisor works closely with purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and administer global vendor performance.
• Address all issues related to non-conforming materials or suspected non-conformance reported by manufacturing and confirm vendor responsibility.
• Coordinate with Purchasing to manage disposal of non-conforming raw materials and prepare corrective actions for vendors when required.
• Develop documented work plans for segregation, identification, documentation, control, and safeguarding of non-conforming raw materials from inspection or manufacturing issues.
• Collaborate with QA Supervisor to provide mutual support in overlapping functions.
Qualifications
• Experience:
o Minimum 5 years in SQE, supplier development, or internal auditing.
o At least 2 years in a leadership role managing engineers or technicians.
• Technical Skills:
o Strong knowledge of electrical, industrial, or mechanical engineering.
o Ability to interpret drawings and specifications; familiarity with SMT/FA manufacturing processes.
• Quality Systems:
o Practical experience in quality assurance, process control, or product inspection in electronics or automotive sectors.
o Proficiency in Core Tools and problem-solving methodologies (8D, FMEA, SPC, PPAP).
o Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards for audit preparation and compliance.
• Other Skills:
Ability to interpret GD&T and apply IPC-A-610 criteria in inspection.
o Strong English communication skills for reporting and global collaboration.
o Proven project management experience including resource allocation and KPI tracking.
Preferred Qualifications
• CQE certification or equivalent.
• Experience with supplier audits and corrective action management.
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles.
Working Conditions
• Combination of office and production floor environment.
• Requires standing and walking during inspections and audits.
• Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
• Occasional travel for supplier audits and quality reviews.
