Job Title: Maintenance Worker – Streets
Department: Public Works
Reports To: Streets Supervisor / Crew Leader
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Street Repairs: Perform street repairs and patching, including laying asphalt and filling potholes.
- Concrete Work: Set forms, pour, and finish concrete to repair curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
- Inspection: Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Emergency Response: Answer emergency calls, place traffic barricades, signage, and cones as directed.
- Maintenance: Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment and tools in safe operating order.
- Safety: Maintain safety regulations, including wearing appropriate clothing and using proper equipment and tools.
- Additional Tasks: May include removing debris, replacing street signs, painting curbs and crosswalks, and assisting with special events.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge: General maintenance and repair techniques, operation of light equipment, and safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Skills: Following oral and written directions, planning and organizing materials, and operating tools and vehicles.
- Abilities: Maintain effective working relationships and resolve customer complaints.
Working Conditions:
- Tasks are performed in various weather conditions and may involve repetitive motions such as lifting, twisting, and kneeling.
- May be required to work on-call, evenings, or weekends
