Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Procurement Office
Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour (with potential for full-time employment)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Position Overview:
The Accounts Payable Specialist will support the municipality’s procurement office by managing vendor invoices, processing payments, and ensuring compliance with established financial policies. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance.
  • Match purchase orders, contracts, and invoices to ensure proper documentation.
  • Prepare and process payments in accordance with municipal policies and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end closing and reporting as needed.
  • Support procurement staff with administrative tasks related to purchasing and vendor management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years in accounts payable or related financial role.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information:

  • This is a temporary position with the potential to transition to full-time employment within the municipality.
  • Candidates must be able to work on-site during scheduled hours.
