Job Title: Production Control Lead
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Production Control Lead is responsible for ensuring materials are available, accurate, and properly staged to support uninterrupted production operations. This role serves as the connection between production scheduling, inventory control, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners. The Production Control Lead oversees daily material flow, leads material handlers, proactively identifies risks, and maintains high standards of safety, organization, and 6S across production and storage areas.
Key Responsibilities
Production Readiness & Planning
- Review daily production load reports to align material availability with production schedules
- Ensure consistent availability of packaging, colorant, resin, and other production-critical materials
- Identify and resolve potential material shortages before they impact production
Inventory Control & Accuracy
- Monitor aged inventory within production-use and staging areas
- Maintain strict location accuracy and inventory control practices
- Support cycle counts with a same-day resolution mindset for discrepancies
3PL Coordination & Material Flow
- Manage daily material requests with third-party logistics (3PL) partners
- Coordinate and schedule material pickups, deliveries, and transfers
- Ensure smooth material flow to support uninterrupted production
Material Handling Leadership
- Lead and direct day-to-day activities of material handlers
- Prioritize work based on production needs, material shortages, and operational risk
- Ensure timely delivery, accurate movement, and proper staging of raw materials and WIP
6S & Floor Organization
- Maintain high standards of 6S across production floors, storage areas, and staging locations
- Ensure organized staging, clear walkways, proper labeling, and safe material storage
- Reinforce discipline and accountability for visual controls and housekeeping
Material Operations Support
- Support railcar unloading, material loading, regrind usage, and internal material movement
- Ensure all activities are performed safely and accurately tracked
- Partner with operations and safety teams to reduce risk and improve material processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of inventory control and material management practices
- Working knowledge of AS400 and Microsoft Excel as part of the ERP system
- Ability to analyze data, reports, and inventory transactions within ERP tools
- Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Leadership experience with hourly teams (material handler experience preferred)
- Strong communication and coordination skills, including interaction with 3PL partners
- Safety-first mindset with attention to detail and compliance
