The Automation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of automation equipment and automated systems used in electronics manufacturing and testing. This position ensures maximum uptime, reliability, and performance of machinery to meet production and quality objectives. The Automation Technician collaborates closely with automation technical engineers, manufacturing engineers and operators to support continuous improvement and safe, efficient operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Automation Equipment Maintenance & Repair?
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment, conveyors and robotic systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system failures.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service records, and calibration documentation.
- Installation & Setup
- ?Assist with automation equipment installation, relocation, and commissioning for new production lines.
- Support integration of new automation, vision inspection, and related systems.
- Calibrate equipment and ensure proper functionality before handoff to production.
Process Support
- Collaborate with technical engineers to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Support production line changes, tooling adjustments, and process optimizations.
- Implement maintenance best practices to minimize unplanned downtime.
Safety & Compliance?
- Follow all OSHA, EHS, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure all tools, parts, and equipment are handled and stored properly.
- Participate in equipment safety audits and corrective action implementation.
Qualifications?
- Education: High School Diploma (Associate Degree in Automation or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- Experience: Minimum of 1 years of experience in automation equipment maintenance, preferably in electronics manufacturing, assembly, or automated production environments.?
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in troubleshooting conveyors, and pneumatic systems.
- Understand with robotics, vision systems, and automated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical CAD drawings.
- Software Knowledge: CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), Microsoft Office.
